How to select welding current and connecting

On the premise of ensuring welding quality, When using  electric welding machine ,large current shall be used as much as possible to improve working efficiency. There are many factors affecting the selection of welding current, such as the diameter of welding rod, the position of welding seam in space, the thickness of joint construction, the thickness of blunt edge of groove, and the gap size of workpiece assembly. However, the most important thing is the diameter of the welding rod. For details, please refer to the following

1)    The diameter of welding rod with 2.5mm generally adjust the  current in 100A-120A

2)    The diameter of welding rod with 3.2mm generally adjust the  current in 130A-160A

3)    The diameter of welding rod with 4.0mm generally adjust the  current in 170A-200A

When welding with acid electrode, generally, the direct current positive connection method should be adopted, The workpiece is connected to the output positive pole of the welding machine.

When welding with alkaline electrode, the DC reverse connection method shall be adopted. The workpiece is connected to the output negative pole of the welding machine
